Greensboro, Ga. (October 27, 2008) - The Reynolds Golf Academy's Red Zone Short Game School and Essentials of GolfTM Total Game Improvement School will return in 2009. The three-day schools will each be held 12 times next year. Plus, Director of Instruction Charlie King has added a one-day Essentials of GolfTM School to be held eight times in 2009.
The Red Zone Short Game School is based on King's book, "Golf's Red Zone Challenge" and its focus is on the scoring shots from 100 yards and in. The school's emphasis is on the fundamentals and strategy of putting, chipping, pitching, distance wedges, sand shots and specialty shots. The Red Zone Challenge is becoming a popular teaching tool. The system has spawned a reality TV show and a new 3rd edition printing of the book will be available this spring. A portion of the book will also soon be available free as a download on the Reynolds Golf Academy website.
The Essentials of GolfTM Total Game Improvement School touches on all aspects of the game. Students will learn the fundamentals of a sound golf swing. The program includes short game instruction, course management, a fitness evaluation, personalized video analysis and covers the psychology of the game. The EssentialsTM is the basis of King's teaching philosophy, something he calls "The New Rules of Golf Instruction." King's focus is on skill-based instruction instead of model-based teaching. "Each golfer is evaluated to see where they rank on the seven Essential Skills," says King. "From there students are taught based on the skills they most need to perfect. Golfers are not made to robotically look the same while swinging a club. Each individual's personality comes out in their swing."
Both three-day schools include a four-to-one student to teacher ratio, 17 hours of instruction, video analysis and lesson on DVD, 18 holes of golf and lunch each day.
