Greensboro, Ga. (November 26, 2007) -As it celebrates 20 years of membership, Reynolds Plantation, a Linger Longer Community, continues to build on its reputation as one of the nation's most admired upscale golf communities.

The latest acclaim for the golf destination and residences - the vision of cousins Mercer Reynolds and Jamie Reynolds on their family's historic Lake Oconee property - is the prestigious honor from the National Golf Course Owners Association as 2008 Golf Course of the Year.

The honor is the finishing touch on a memorable year at Reynolds Plantation, which included:

  • The opening of its first member-only golf course, The Creek Club, designed by award-winning golf architect Jim Engh.
  • The unveiling of the Lake Club, a $24 million "wellness campus," where residents enjoy recreational and social activities.
  • Competition in the PGA Cup, hosted at the Rees Jones-designed Oconee Course.
  • The awarding of the 2008 Professional National Championship, by the PGA of America, to the Jack Nicklaus-designed Great Waters Course.

"Each course we finish is more exciting than the previous one," said Mercer Reynolds, the chairman/CEO of Linger Longer Companies.  "When someone comes here, they are never bored with something they have seen down the street.  Our courses distinguish us from our competitors."

The Reynolds family has carefully and successfully assembled one of the most remarkable collections of golf courses in the country, if not the world, at Reynolds Plantation.  The family has followed a distinct vision and commitment to a world-class golf destination and family community, growing to 99 holes of championship golf  while remaining faithful to their responsibility as caretakers of the land.

"I'm most proud of the fact that in developing the land, we're maintaining the look and feel of what we knew long ago," Mercer Reynolds said.

NGCOA award winners are determined by a panel of golf course owners and operators.  Winners will be recognized on Jan. 30 at the NGCOA's Annual Conference in Orlando.

Greensboro, Ga. (November 1, 2007) - Linger Longer Communities is pleased to announce that the new members-only Creek Club at Reynolds Plantation has been named one of Golf Inc. Magazine's top five developments of the year in the private club category.

Golf Inc.'s "Development of the Year" award honors the best new golf developments of the previous year across the United States.  Eligible courses were built between January 1, 2006 and March 30, 2007.  Judging was based on how well the developer achieved the vision for the project, including the course routing aesthetics.

The Creek Club, which opened for play on June 1, 2007, was designed by 2003 Golf Digest Architect of the Year, Jim Engh, and was developed by Linger Longer Development Company.  It is Reynolds Plantation's fifth (and first members-only) golf course.  The Creek Club features Engh's signature rolling bunkers, Zoysia grass fairways and tributaries of Richland Creek, whose waters come into play on 14 holes.  Distinctive bunkering complements the terrain and impacts shot values to ensure a tough but fair challenge on this 7,079-yard, par-72 course.

"The visual aspects of the golf course and the use of this unique piece of property are remarkable," says Bob Mauragas, vice president of golf operations at Reynolds Plantation.  "We are honored to be chosen as one of Golf Inc.'s Developments of the Year."

The other top five private clubs are Vellano in  Chino Hills, Calif., Dismal River Club in Mullen, Neb., Whispering Oak at Verandah in Fort Myers, Fla., and The Clubs of Cordillera Ranch in Boerne, Texas.  All winners will be featured in the November 2007 issue of Golf Inc. Magazine.  Winners will also be recognized at an awards gala in Miami in April.
