Aug/Sep Video Newsletter Golf Lesson: Transition

In this video I tackle a critical skill for consistency in your golf swing: Transition.

This is where the backswing ends and the forwardswing starts. Because the nature of golf instinctively makes us quick, this is an often overlooked and detrimental part of the swing for a lot of golfers.

Watch the video below and put these drills into practice.  Let me know in the comments section how the drills work for you.

Charlie, so good to see you again! This is great advice. I love the drill with using less effort...works for me.

Such GREAT ideas. Worked wonders for me. Stopped me from trying to muscle the ball and pulling it low left.

Will this be a permanent part of the lesson series? Please add if it isn"t... Great video!

I love this drill. I learned with a full swing and so hard for me to slow down for 1/2 or 3/4 swings. It is really taking a lot of effort to slow down. Keep up the great work.

I have the feeling some days, and when i dont have it, the monitoring of grip pressure stops me from shanking shots, which will then normally happen. Effortless speed. I used low effort drives to weed out slicing completely. These drills are GOOD! 20% can be longer and straighter than 80%, just go see.

Hey Charlie

I check the blog throughout the week and love Reynolds Plantation! I came across something I don't see being covered that i wanted to share. A guy I believe down in your neck of the woods is breaking the Guinness world record for golf rounds in a year.

I follow his twitter and then saw where he is going to double the record held by a guy from Texas. Double it! If you read his mission, it is impressive and makes more sense than most charities.

You can see his blog and updates from Twitter at twitter.com/heartofthegreen

Keep it up!

Practicing my transition and focusing on my transition has helped my consistency. My misses used to be low and left and I feel were due to trying to hit the ball. Now I feel I have a smooth transition and am swinging the club.

I really like the grip pressure tip, being conscious of how much pressure seems to really be able to allow control of speed, especially if your trying to slow a fast swing while still keeping great distance.
