The Holy Grail in golf is that feeling we get at the moment of contact – it’s what got us addicted to golf and we wish we could feel it more often. Great players can hit it farther than most of us, but we can learn to hit the ball as PURE as them. Hogan, Nicklaus and Sorenstam hit it Pure and so can you.
The problem: it’s not easy! Our instincts work against us.
With the ball on the ground, we swing up to make it go up, which is logical. But, it doesn’t work. To throw a ball, we bend our wrist to make it go faster. To get the club head to go faster, we think we have to bend our wrists but when we do that, the ball isn’t hit solid or pure.
Knowing this, one of the things I’ve focused on the most is solid contact. As part of my campaign for President of Golf Instruction, I’m rolling out PURE IMPACT: 4 Weeks to Solid Contact. Go to www.charliekingforpresident.com and enter your name and e-mail address to get access to the program.
This program is designed to get all golfers to focus in on the one thing that makes golf satisfying: HITTING IT PURE.
I HAVE CREATED 2 VIDEOS AND A 4 WEEK PLAN FOR YOU.
In the 1st video, I talk about the theory and right ideas to hit the ball solid. In the 2nd video, I explain how to implement the correct techniques and practice them so HITTING IT PURE becomes a skill and habit. The 4 week plan is designed to keep you focused to build the habit.
These 2 videos and practice plan are going to become a DVD that we sell, but for now, they’re available for FREE as part of my presidential campaign promise. I want you to watch them and pass them on to all of your golfing friends. Go to www.newrulesgolf.com and enter your name and e-mail address to get access.
Work on these skills yourself, and even better, take the videos to a golf instructor and tell them, point blank, teach me how to HIT IT PURE like this.
Nothing will make you more satisfied and have you enjoying golf more than hitting it solid. Now get out there and HIT IT PURE.
Until next time…
Your trusted golf coach/advisor,
Charlie King

1. Simplify
2. Demystify
3. Answer Your Questions
4. Set a New Standard
A new chapter in spreading the New Rules ideals starts Thursday, Jan. 21.
I have a passion for helping you get better at golf. I took a look at the new technology available and I feel the best vehicle for me to deliver solid information to you is via a live streaming TV Show on the web.
I get a lot of questions from confused golfers wanting to understand this game so they can get better. Even though I can answer those questions in e-mails or blog posts, I find it hard to get my point across as well as when I can explain and demonstrate simultaneously.
Thus we are launching "New Rules Golf School Live" this Thursday. Click on the link below at Noon on Thursday Jan. 21.
http://www.ustream.tv/channel/new-rules-golf-tv
If for some reason the link does not work, go to www.ustream.tv and use the search function to look up New Rules Golf .
I will be discussing confusing methods, terminology that seems like a foreign language and the New Rules standards that make such a big difference in your game. I will also be bringing you informative interviews from industry insiders.
If you have questions for me, post them in the comments section of my blog www.reynoldsgolfacademy.com/charlies-golf-blog .
Please join us this Thursday, Jan. 21 at Noon. The recording will be posted on my blog that afternoon.

Our New Rules Essential Skills series continues. The first week we got your Pre-Swing to be solid. The second and third week we got you to hit the ball solidly. The forth week we swung the club with rhythm. This week I want to have you focus on the #1 key to direction control - club face angle at impact.
Over the years, I have heard teachers and players claim that this happens automatically if you do some other move correctly (usually with the body). I also hear too many times about how the hands are not trustworthy. These thoughts are flat out not true. The New Rules way of thinking says golf is about being skillful. The squaring of the club face will seem to happen automatically for the golfer who has practiced and become skillful at this move.
The video I have included has been viewed almost 8,000 times and it contains the drills I recommend to become skillful and eventually make it where your clubface seems to square up automatically. Clubface awareness is an Essential Skill that every golfer must master to hit the ball to the intended target.
"The New Rules of Golf Instruction" continues to gain momentum with golfers and golf instructors alike. I spoke to a group of PGA professionals in the Tennessee PGA Section on Monday, Nov. 30 and a second semester group at the Professional Golfers Career College on Tuesday, Dec. 1. Follow the link above to download this critical book for your ultimate improvement. Long time PGA professional Bobby Greenwood told me he thinks New Rules has a chance "to change golf instruction and golf improvement to a logical approach that guarantees success for the golfer."

The first two weeks we covered Pre-Swing in two parts (if you missed these, look back a couple of posts) and how to achieve Solid Contact. This week I have included the video about the most effective way to use the body in your golf swing.
This is misunderstood by many people and the misconceptions are fed by articles on the "Big Muscles". These articles have some fact behind them but still lead to trouble when golfers aren't given a balanced view of how the body interacts with the hands, arms and wrists. You might want to watch the video below a couple of times to make sure you have got a firm grasp of the Essential Skill. Keep putting these skills into your golf game for maximum improvement.

My review of Essential Skill #1, Pre-Swing was given in two parts and there have been over 600 views in two weeks. Good job reviewing your Essential Skills.
This week is my favorite Essential and I think most important. The video below is titled "Golf's Most Important Lesson" for a reason. Making solid contact is the hardest skill for most golfers and the most misunderstood. I've written a book on this topic titled "You're NOT Lifting Your Head" which is available as a free download or a paperback version at amazon.com. The video below has now been viewed over 18,000 times. This video has resonated with golfers because of the struggle with this skill and because the drills given are simple to do. For those of you who have seen it, repetition is the key to gaining Mastery of a skill.
You can be a solid ballstriker within weeks if you follow the advice and do the drills for as little as 10 minutes a day.
Hitting pure, solid shots is what makes us addicted to golf. I want you to feel this positive addiction!
Please DON'T send this video to any other golfers unless you want to see them improve.

Wow. Today is the release of my 60-page ebook, "The New Rules of Golf Instruction," which is available for free download at
NewRulesGolf.com.

The ebook features the nine areas where traditional (Old Rules) golf instruction has failed and introduces the "New Rules," a modern set of ideas and standards for golfers and instructors.
I believe the New Rules will pave the way for people of all skill levels to play their best golf and stick with the game.
I didn't have very good instruction early in my career and that
put me on a mission.
Golfers deserve not to be confused. It's too difficult to figure out how to get better at golf.
"New Rules" is the manifesto that explains how to do this.
New Rules includes chapters on the full swing, the short game, the mental side of golf, practice and programs, fitness, the use of video, club fitting and communication. Each chapter explains the Old Rules way of teaching (which will sound familiar to any golfer who has had a bad or ineffective lesson) and clearly contrasts it with the New Rules approach. The ebook includes personal stories from me, as well as my contributors and instructors from across the nation.
The New Rules of Golf Instruction ebook is 60 pages long. You can read it in one sitting. I'm asking you to read it and if you agree with what it says, use the principles for your own game and pass it on to fellow golfers.
Join our Movement. We've also launched
Facebook and
LinkedIn groups that you can join to become part of our
grassroots movement to improve golf instruction so it benefits you.
